Day 1 – Portland to Amsterdam

We are off!

After spraying our clothes with permethrin, picking up our malaria pills, anti diarrhea medicine, and deet bugspray we were packed and ready for our romantic honeymoon 😉

Madagascar is about as far away from the US West coast as you can get. We used KLM (Dutch) and Kenya Airways. Our itinerary would be:

Portland to Amsterdam – 10 hours

Amsterdam to Nairobi – 9 hours

Nairobi to Madagascar – 2.5 hours

Add in a 2.5 hour layover in Amsterdam and a 12 hour layover in Nairobi and our trip took 36 hours!

Thankfully everything was on time and all was smooth sailing. We each watched three movies.
